Classically trained at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, Chef Jonathan Sudar was born in South Africa but grew up in San Diego, California. His love for cooking and great food was inspired in part by his mother, with whom he often cooked. Upon graduating from culinary school, Chef Sudar returned to San Diego to cook at some of the region’s finest hotel restaurants before starting his twelve-year career with Four Seasons in Maui, Damascus, Dubai, Amman and Costa Rica. Now, the Californian-at-heart enthusiastically returns to the sun, surf and charm that he’s missed during his years away. While worldly in his culinary experiences, including his classical French training, Chef Sudar is thrilled with the prospect of once again working with Southern California’s bounty of fresh, seasonal ingredients. “I love to utilize contrasting textures and flavors while staying true to the integrity of the ingredients available to me,” he says. “My return to San Diego is exciting to me on both a personal and professional level, and I look forward to contributing to the dining experience at this beautiful property.”
